History and Mission

The Texas Hand Society was formed in October 2024. This section will grow as we grow!

Vision

  • Timely access to appropriate and high-quality hand care for all patients in Texas
  • Collaboration and coordination among hand surgeons in Texas with other health care providers, health systems, payers and policy makers

Mission

  • Break down silos and improve communication among hand surgeons and affiliated clinicians
  • Foster collaboration between hand surgeons and other clinicians, including but not limited to emergency care physicians, advanced practice providers, hand therapists and other health care professionals
  • Enhance camaraderie and create meaningful connections between hand surgeons and other colleagues
  • Share best practices, including clinical and practice-related
  • Uphold standards of care by identifying notable deviations from standards of care and holding each other accountable to the highest practical standards
  • Facilitate care of patients, especially those with fewer resources
  • Work with / coordinate / collaborate with other organizations so as to amplify and localize efforts rather than compete or replicate ongoing efforts (don’t reinvent the wheel)
  • Inspire and encourage the younger generation to get involved and make care better
